By · CommentsÂ
There is one thing that humans have been trying to prevent for the longest time. It does not matter if you are a man, a woman or even how old you are. Everybody at one point or another has or will think about this.
Now if you are still wondering what I am talking about, it is our fascination with anti aging. People have spent thousands of dollars on skin care products, everything from lotions to different procedures. It now seems, the best products to use are natural products although finding the right product can be quite difficult.
Green tea is a natural skin care product that delays skin care aging, soothes, heals stressed skin, firms your skin, balances skin tone, helps prevent and repair sun damage. The great thing about green tea is that people with different skin types can use it.
There are so many different ways that one can use the product. It can be used as a day cream, under makeup, or under any moisturizer, green tea skin will provide a protective antioxidant base to resist everyday environmental stresses on your skin and smooth over clear skin.
It can also be used as a night cream. The repairing of skin cells that have been damaged is most effective if you do it when you are sleeping. You should apply on your skin before sleep for intense restoration. You can either choose to use it by itself or with other products. Or you can opt to use it as a healing treatment.
What you should do is apply it larger affected areas but make sure you always apply after cleansing and drying skin. It is also good to use on inflamed, flaking, cracked or irritated skin. There are many great beneficial uses for green tea and the best thing about it, is that it is all natural.
What’s Good For Preventing Aging?
By · CommentsThe body is self-regenerating. As cells grow old and die, they are replaced with new cells exactly the same as the ones they replace. Each part of the body is complexly renewed on it’s own timetable. The skin, for instance, is replaced about every three weeks. Bones take the longest to be renewed, just over a year. Nerve cells, however, don’t reproduce. Think about it. You become almost a totally new person, nearly every year. You could live forever if something didn’t go wrong. That something is called aging.
When a cell is damaged, it will be replaced by a damaged cell just like it. Cells can become damaged through accident, disease, or abuse, but mostly by free radicals. Free radicals are unavoidable as they are produced by the body’s normal activity. The production and the effects of free radicals, however, can be counteracted by healthy living practices such as good nutrition, and by avoiding harmful things like alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and overexposure to the sun. Antioxidants are extremely helpful in combating free radicals. Antioxidants absorb free radicals through a process of chemically combining with them, and thus neutralizing the free radicals inside the body
Antioxidants and other supplements, which are considered helpful in slowing the aging process, include: B complex, B6 (pyrodoxine), beta-carotene, C, calcium & magnesium, cysteine, D, E, folic acid, omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, selenium, and zinc.
Herbs and other healing foods considered helpful include: alfalfa, apple cider vinegar, beets, blueberries, broccoli, brown rice, chamomile, citrus fruits, cranberries, echinacea, evening primrose, fish, ginkgo, ginseng, garlic, green tea, horsetail, milk thistle, mushroom, nuts, oatmeal, onion, olive oil, peanuts, peppermint, pomegranate, pumpkin, purslane, rosemary, sage, thyme, tomato, turmeric, willow, wheat bran, and wheat germ.
To keep the body’s processes running smoothly, and to slow the production of free radicals, avoid the following: alcohol, unhealthy fats, fried foods, grilled foods, meat, processed foods, salt, stress, sugar, sun overexposure, tobacco smoke, toxins, and white flour. Also try to limit protein.
Be sure to drink at least 8-12 cups of water daily. Moderate exercise is good for the body, but aerobic exercise can actually increase production of free radicals. Get 7-9 hours sleep daily. Maintain a healthy weight. Try to consume a high nutrition, low calorie diet. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables (especially raw), and whole grains.
Aging is a fact of life. You can’t stop it. You do, however, have the ability to speed it up, or slow it down. You must make that choice daily.

What is Natural Skin Care?
By · CommentsPut simply, ‘natural skin care’ is caring for your skin in a natural and chemical-free way. ‘Natural skin care’ advocates enabling the skin to take care of itself (without any assistance from synthetic materials/ chemicals). ‘Natural skin care’ is about inculcation of good habits in the way you lead your day to day life. A lot of natural skin care measures are actually the same as those for body care in general.
So let’s see what these natural skin care measures are.
Well the first and the foremost natural skin care measure is – ‘Drink a lot of water’. Around 8 glasses of water is a must everyday. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, in a natural way. It helps in the overall upkeep of the body and promotes good health for all organs (not just skin).
General cleanliness is another inexpensive way of natural skin care. Daily shower, wearing clean clothes and sleeping on a clean mattress/pillow are all part of general cleanliness. After all, clean skin is the key to keeping the skin disorders at bay.
Regular exercise is the next thing on the cards. Exercise increases the flow of blood that helps in getting rid of body toxins and keeping you healthy. Exercise also helps in beating stress which is the worst enemy of good health.
Healthy food and eating habits are also recommended for natural skin care. Some type of food (e.g. oily food) is know to cause acne and should be avoided as much as possible. Your diet should be a healthy mix of various nutrient providing foods. Raw fruits and vegetables are known to provide freshness to your body and help in getting rid of body toxins.
A good sleep is also instrumental in maintaining good health and in beating stress. As a natural skin care measure, a good sleep delays slacking of skin.
Beating stress is another natural skin care therapy. Stress causes overall damage to body and health. Drinking a lot of water, getting a sound sleep and exercise has already been mentioned as stress busters. Indulging in a warm bubble bath, listening to music and playing your favourite sport are also good ways of beating stress. Yoga is yet another way of beating stress; it is fast gaining popularity amongst the masses.
Avoiding excessive exposure to sun (by wearing long sleeved clothes, hat and umbrella etc), is another natural skin care strategy. Sunscreen lotions are also recommended as necessary.
A lot of traditional and home made natural skin care products/ measures are also known to be very effective. Such measures are not only natural and easy-to-follow, but also relatively inexpensive.
Besides that, a lot of natural skin care products are available in the commercial market. These include things like lavender oil, aloe vera etc., which don’t have any side effects.
Anti Aging Natural Skin Care Products: Pig Tendons?
By · CommentsRecently, I read the FDA approved a new product for injections to help reduce severe wrinkling and folds within the skin. The Wall Street Journal quoted the company stating that the injected treatment is made from “naturally sourced collagen.†The article went on to report that the product is made…get this! using tendons harvested from pigs.
Call me chicken; I just could not go under the knife or get injected with any kind of animal part to rid myself of sagging skin or plump up the wrinkles traversing across my face. Instead, I want peace, love, natural…anti aging natural skin care products. That work effectively; are actually safe and good for my skin. Is that too big a wish?
Excuse me, but I do NOT want the tendons of pigs injected into my face, thank you very much.
For those who would rather go the more natural route with anti aging natural skin care products be alert! The word ‘natural’ on labels, however, needs to be closely scrutinized when shopping for products that will provide the best anti aging skin care. There’s a gaping hole in the industry as to what claims can be made in the marketing and manufacturing of ‘natural’ skin care. Reading the ingredients and knowing what they are will make for a more informed purchase.
Following is a short list of ingredients you want to make sure are NOT included in your search for effective and safe anti aging natural skin care products. These are dangerous ingredients known to be toxic or cancer causing and are routinely found in common skin care products:
DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine), and TEA (triethanolamine): Often used in skincare products to adjust the pH. TEA causes allergic reactions including eye problems, dryness of hair and skin, and could be toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time. These chemicals are already restricted in Europe due to known carcinogenic effects.
Nitrosamines: Can be formed in skincare products when amines (such as DEA, MEA or TEA) are combined with formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (such as bronopol or quaternium-15). Nitrosamines are known to be carcinogenic.
Polyethylene glycol (PEG): Widely used as an emulsifier and humectant. Suspected of being carcinogenic.
Triclosan: An anti-bacterial agent, widely used in skincare products (also used in weed killers). There is evidence to suggest triclosan may contribute to creating strains of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, due to its wide use in skincare products.
This is a start. Next time you are ready to make a purchase for anti aging natural skin care products, write down those ingredients and stuff the piece of paper into your purse. Then compare to what is listed on the label of any product you consider. You will do a much better job of implementing the best anti aging skin care without including these harmful chemicals.
